TFIHL was born of coincidences and structures of the conjuncture, regressions and play, returns of the repressed, new routes for joy, and 1980’s soundtracks. All works are composed, recorded, edited, and mixed across virtual distances, piecemeal, no studio.
TFIHL will release 1-2 albums per year to keep some lamplights burning during these dark times.
all we ask:
take your index fingers and touch them under your nose like they’re a mustache, move ‘em up and down at a fast rate, and say “buhhhhhhhh.” then listen with a heart so tickled.
TFIHL IS A/S/L

THE FLOOR IS HOT LAVA is a concept album of sorts. Nothing like Tommy or The Wall, so don’t “sheeeeeit” just yet. We only figured out the narrative après-coup. So, as in the best of psychoanalytic tradition: tell us yr narrative and we’ll gently share with you ours.
Dedicated with big love to Kenzie & Philco. Tu nous manques.

the floor is hot lava
a welcome smoke break for dogs and hyenas. boom boom. the transference. the counter-transference. between the soybeans and the corn. buhhhhh. are you home guwahati johnny? did you ever leave? rest well and say a prayer with us, a prayer for the rat man.
All songs written and composed by TFIHL, except Track #13 by TFIHL & J. Baird. References for all samples can be found by clicking on track names here.
The tracks posted here (on this very page) are MP3 files. The quality kinda suuuuuucks. So we will keep these up only for the summer. Probably not a good idea to play on your boomy bluetooth speaker while riding your fixed-gear bike down Augusta Ave. Yeah, I’m talking to you “that guy.”
Check us out at Bandcamp instead, especially if you really want to hear the maal. And if y’all follow us there, purchase, and review the album, then it will REALLY HELP US OUT. LIKE BIG TIME. WAIT, HEY, WHERE’S THE BUTTON TO TURN THESE CAPS OFF…I MEAN, THERE’S ONLY ONE MF DOOM AND PEOPLE THINK THIS MEANS SCREAMING AND….oh, there it is. Sorry about that.
Thanks, friends. — TFIHL

COMING SOOn
Sometime in the near future, we’ll sell some t-shirts and stickers for y’all.
One thing we promise: after we raise enough money to press our album on vinyl, all income earned by merchandise sales will be donated to causes we care passionately about: medical research early-childhood disorders, mental health resources for low-income and indigenous/minority populations, reproductive rights and access, and climate science.
